Client: Curious Comet
The Client: Curious Comet is an indie Alt Rock band headed up by musical duo Bob Donald and Niki Kaos.
The Challenge: Curious Comet launched their debut album “Authentic Earth” in December of 2020, and was hard at work booking gigs to promote the music. They needed a rush press release to promote their upcoming show at Caffe Lena, a legendary musicians’ haunt in Saratoga, New York.
The Solution: As a copywriter with some background in PR, I knew that it wasn’t just enough to write a press release with the “5 W’s” and call it a day. The release had to be newsworthy to get picked up, which in this business means unique, urgent, interesting, and important. I achieved this key combination by honing in on the mutual aid aspect of the concert and its location, and by emphasizing that some songs would not be played anywhere else. To Curious Comet’s delight, the press release was published without revisions by three different digital and print outlets.
